Booking Information

How do I search for accommodation?

There are three main ways to find holiday accommodation through MakeMyStay:

  1. Homepage search box:
    If you know the region and dates you want to travel then this is the easiest way to search.

    • Select the region you wish to travel to, for example ‘Sunshine Coast’ and then in the drop down menu below you can select a subregion, for example ‘Noosa’ or search for properties in all areas of your selected region by leaving the box showing ‘All areas’.
    • Select you check in dates and check out dates
    • State the number of people that will be staying at the property
    • Click the ‘Search’ button
    • MakeMyStay will then display details of all the properties that meet your criteria that are available for your selected dates. You can view the total price for the stay and view property details, location and pictures. Once you find something you want to book you can follow the booking links.
  2. Advanced Search:
    If you have special requirements such as wanting to bring your pets then you can use our advanced search feature. Follow the links to this from the homepage search box.
  3. Browse Properties:
    From the browse accommodation tab at the top left of any page you can select a region and view all properties within these regions. You can then check rates and availability for anything that grabs your interest.

How can I check accommodation availability?

You can check availability for all properties in an area by using the home page search box or the advanced search option. If you are browsing individual properties you can also view the rates and availability calender.

Note: Availability is updated by property owners and agents. While all availability should be up to date their may be occasions where an owner has received a booking from another source and has not updated the availability calendar.

Do prices include taxes?

Prices include all applicable taxes

How do I make a booking?

To make an accommodation booking on MakeMyStay you can search for available properties using the search box on our homepage. Just select your destination and dates then click search to see what is available. Alternatively you can can browse regions to see whats on offer and then use the availability calendar or book now icons to check availability, rates or make a booking.

Once you have found a property you want to book then follow the booking process which will confirm your dates, number of guests and personal details. To confirm the booking you are required to enter your credit card details on a secure page. However, please note, this is to secure booking only and your credit card will not be charged by MakeMyStay. The property owner will arrange payment with you directly.


I’ve made a booking request online – what happens now?

When you complete your booking form MakeMyStay the following happens:

  • MakeMyStay instantly sends an email and SMS to property owner/agent asking them to confirm booking.
  • Property owner or agent confirms booking (or declines in unlikely event property is not available)
  • You login to your MakeMyStay account and confirm your acceptance of holiday rental agreement between yourself and property owner / agent – this is done by electronically signing an online rental agreement.
  • Booking is finalised and you receive booking confirmation via email with full property details


How long will it take to confirm my booking?

Typically bookings are confirmed within 24 hours
Disclaimer: While we aim to have all bookings confirmed within 24 hours the confirmation relies on the property owner or agent confirming the booking. Weekends, public holidays or limited internet access can all impact confirmation times. MakeMyStay will chase up unconfirmed bookings with the owner after 48 hours if no response has been received.

How are payments made?

When you book online you will provide your credit card details which are taken to secure the booking. Payments for the booking are processed directly by the owner and payment options are stated when making the booking (varies by property). These may include credit card, bank transfer or cash on arrival.

What is an online rental agreement?

MakeMyStay facilitates direct bookings between travellers and holiday accommodation owners / agents. An online rental agreement is designed to protect both travellers and property owners by having a formal agreement between the two parties confirming that the property will be provided on the agreed dates and any conditions. You must complete the online rental agreement from your account area in order to confirm your booking.

How can I amend or cancel my booking?

You must contact the property you have booked directly by phone or email using the property contact details provided in your confirmation email. Cancellation conditions for each property are stated when making a booking. Generally, if you do need to change or cancel a booking you should do so as far in advance as possible.

How do I get my receipt / voucher?

You will receive this via email once the booking is confirmed. You can also find this by logging into your account at any time – you can view your invoice or your online rental agreement.

How do I check the status of my booking?

Log into your account at anytime to view the status of all your bookings

How can I request an early check in or a late check out?

Once your booking is confirmed you will receive the contact details for the property you have booked. Please contact the owner or agent directly with any special requests.

Do I have to book online – Can I book by phone?

MakeMyStay.com.au is not a booking agent – our website facilitates online bookings with holiday accommodation owners and all bookings must be made online. If you need help booking online you are welcome to phone or email us using the details on our contact page.

I don’t live in Australia – can I still book?

Of course – we welcome international travellers

How do I submit a review?

Once you have had your stay, why not share your experience and leave a review. You can do this by logging into your account and selecting the property you wish to review. You may only review properties you have booked through the site.

Property Owners

How do I add my holiday property to MakeMyStay?

You can sign up online from the ‘add your property’ page. There are no upfront charges to listing your property, you simply pay a small commission for each confirmed booking that is made.

Payments & Security

Is it safe to use my credit card?

When booking via MakeMyStay.com.au your credit card details are encrypted using 256 bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer). It is stored securely at all times and will never be shared to unauthorised third parties.

Who processes my payment?

MakeMyStay allows you to make your booking with holiday accommodation owners and agents. In most cases they will process your payments.

Are my personal details safe?

When registering you as a member we ask for essential details for you to make an accommodation booking. We always ensure you details are safe and secure and are not sold to third parties. Details are only provided to third parties such as accommodation owners to process your bookings.

Property Details

Who provides accommodation facilities details & information?

All photos and property information is provided by the property owner and agent and they are responsible for the accuracy of such information. If you feel any information on a property is inaccurate or misleading please contact us and will investigate the matter.

Where can I find direct contact details for accommodation?

When you make a booking your confirmation email will include the full contact details for your booking including address and phone number. You can contact the property owner directly with any special requests or questions you have that are specific to the property.

Is Make My Stay a travel agent / booking agency?

No – we are not a travel agent or a booking agent. Our website allows owners and agents of Australian holiday accommodation to list their property and for users of the site to make bookings online. You booking and holiday rental agreement is with the property owner or agent directly, not with Make My Stay.
